Two weekends ago, some old friends and I got together to hike up to a pristine lake near Leavenworth, WA.
I am always open to attempt a new physical challenge, but this steep hike was something else. Although I was pretty well equipped, I found that the challenge was more mental and spiritual than physical. Don’t get me wrong, this hike was brutal, but something happens when you tell yourself you can’t do it anymore and then make it to the top. It was like a switch. It amazes me what we can accomplish when presented with a challenge and, instead of cowering and quitting, we take that hike, get dirty along the way, and marvel at what we overcame.
